Planning the Evolution of Transit in Mississauga

MiWay Five 2021-2025 is a service plan that will guide the refinement and expansion of the City’s transit network over five years from 2021 to 2025. Its main goal is to continue growing the system and improving connectivity to deliver a transit service that will be fast, efficient, attractive and easy to use. We’re planning to make MiWay appeal to more people as a great way to get around the city.

To achieve this goal, we’ve begun a study that will review existing service and explore options for improvements to make transit an even more convenient choice in Mississauga. Once completed, the plan will set the stage for future transit improvements and expansion.

The MiWay Five 2021-2025 study will provide many opportunities for you to have a say in the future of MiWay. We look forward to working with all members of our community to build the foundation for continued transit improvement in Mississauga.

MiWay Five 2021-2025 Guiding Principles

The development of MiWay Five 2021-2025 will be guided by four key principles:

  1. Responding to you
MiWay Five 2021-2025 will build on the changes made over the last five years and continue to build a system responsive to your travel needs. Your input to this study—through stakeholder and public consultations—will help shape transit service in the coming years.

  2. Responding to transportation initiatives in and near our community
    • MiWay Five 2021-2025 will respond to upcoming changes such as:
  3. Examining new transportation options
Transportation Network Companies such as Uber and Lyft have introduced new ways to get around the city. Metrolinx is exploring fare and service integration across the Toronto-Mississauga border. MiWay Five 2021-2025 will evaluate how these and other changes impact transit service and explore ways that we can better serve Mississauga’s residents and business community.

  4. Supporting growth
Mississauga continues to grow and evolve. New policy initiatives and plans (e.g. Housing Strategy, Dundas Connects Master Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Climate Change Project) are being implemented to help guide and shape the city. MiWay Five 2021-2025 will ensure transit services respond to these changes and meet demand for transit services.
